Mission Statements of Our Ministries
Usher Board
The Usher Board Ministry seeks to ensure order in God’s house, so that the presence of the Lord can enter. Members of the ushers board represent the presence of God by welcoming, informing, and attending to all the needs of the congregation and guest, before, during and after services while presenting a humble, positive and cheerful attitude to the church and the outside community.
Women’s Committee
The Women’s committee of Unity Fellowship of Christ Church, Philadelphia has been in operation since 2006. UFCC Philadelphia recognizes women each year during the month of March. We have, on three separate occasions, celebrated women who have come before us, laid the groundwork, and whose shoulders we stand on as well as celebrated the women with whom we stand today. The various women that have participated in the committee agree that the voice and visibility of women and the needs of women should be a central component in the functioning and organizing of the church. Women have longed played a significant role within religious organizations but have only until recently begun to have significant leadership positions. As a committee, we are striving to fulfill the mission of the larger church body as well as our individual mission for there is truly a need and purpose for this work. We seek new ideas from women who are interested in participating and helping to ensure that we are true to our mission and purpose. Membership is open to any woman who is currently a member or planning to become a member of Unity Fellowship Church.
Women’s Committee - Mission
The Women’s committee of, UFCC Philadelphia upholds the belief that God is Love and Love is for everyone. Our mission is to value, support, uplift, affirm, and encourage women of alternative life styles. As a group of religious and spiritual women, we seek to identify individual and social needs within the community by advocating for women; encouraging healthy self acceptance and emotional well being.
Women’s Committee -Purpose
The general purposes for which Unity Fellowship of Christ Church, Philadelphia Women’s committee exists is-
To encourage spiritual growth through fellowship with other women of the church.
To accept, value, and support all women, regardless of sexual orientation.
To identify individual and social needs within the community that promotes empowerment and advocacy for women, regardless of sexual orientation.
Men’s Ministry - Vision Statement
We the Men of Unity Fellowship Church of Christ Philadelphia seek to empower each other through prayer, friendship, support and community service. We will work tirelessly to bring justice to all men, women and children, people of color and all others whether straight, gay, bi or questioning. We feel the pain of the oppressed and the forgotten. We know that through Christ all things are possible and we will be victorious in Him! As the great Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere!”.
Unity Fellowship Church Of Philadelphia Youth Department
Unity Fellowship Church of Philadelphia Youth Department started in 2006 with, Brittiany Mason, and her passion for young people and the arts, which has proven to be an inspiration for all to bring their gifts and talents. Now in 2008 our team is reinventing and starting a new using our own gifts and talents that God has blessed us with to be able to reach the masses of youth in and around Philadelphia with a special focus being but not limited to the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning youth community. Through God and our elder leaders as our guide we are creating safe spaces for the youth of today to be exactly who and what God has called us to be. We are crossing barriers as we open our hearts and doors to say “Come as you are no matter how young, who you love or who you choose to be”. In this city of brotherly love and sisterly affection we must support, love and build up our young brothers and sisters to be the true light of God, knowing that we are accepted by God by being visible to God, as well as ourselves and in our community. We live our lives believing God is love and love is for everybody including you!
Youth Department - Mission
The Youth Department of Unity Fellowship Church Philadelphia’s mission is to educate, empower, inform and build sisterly and brotherly bonds through Christ. As a ministry of vibrant youth and young adults, it is our goal to create and affirm an all inclusive space where youth and young adults alike can encounter God and his love. We believe that through our spiritual ministry we can advocate from a social justice standpoint to reach the youth of Philadelphia and beyond.
Youth Department - Purpose
- To encourage, empower and support our youth through education, social reform and ministry.
- To unite all youth in the state of Pennsylvania non discriminative of color, gender or sexual preference.
- To meet the youth where they are through love and reach their needs creating avenues for them to shine through dance, music, film, support groups, etc…
Music Ministry - Vision Statement
The vision of the Music Ministry is to minister to the needs of the people in anointed song, by setting an atmosphere of praise, worship and liberation. To inspire, encourage and uplift the spiritual lives of the people while giving all glory, honor and praise to God.
POZITIVE LIGHT: HIV/AIDS SUPPORT MINISTRY
Mission of Ministry: Pozitive Light HIV/AIDS Support Ministry is a service provided by the Unity Fellowship Church of Christ in Philadelphia. The ministry will provide a safe, private and confidential space for conversation, education and spiritual wellness for those infected and affected by the HIV/AIDS virus destroying and claiming many lives in our community. We will educate the community about the virus and provide prevention methods that will aid you in living a healthy and responsible life that will not put yourself or any loved ones at risk. We also want to minister to your spirit. With the teachings and spiritual guidance and love of Christ we will encourage, enlighten and inspire all those with heavy hearts that are wounded with feelings of personal doubt, fear and low self esteem. We will put a positive light to a dark situation of with dealing with HIV and AIDS.
A Message from the Facilitator of the group:
Hi, My name is Carlos and I’m HIV Positive. I have been HIV Positive since 1986.
I am drug free (praise the Lord) and in good health as I write this message.
I send greetings from the Lord in professing that it is because of God’s compassion and love for me that I am where I am with this disease today. Drug free and in good Health. Nothing is impossible with the love of God in your heart. I also understand that not everyone can say that. That’s why I’m here.
I am coming out so to speak about my status to say no longer will doubt, shame and fear rule over my life and keep me from doing God’s will for me and you. I know I have not been this blessed just to sit on the fence as I watch friends, loved ones and even strangers waste away and die, some alone and with no feeling of self love and dignity. I want the stigma of this decease to be eradicated from this earth and that this human race display the same compassion and love that God gave us by giving up his/her only begotten son that we may live and not die, especially not to die in shame. I pray Pozitive Light can minister to the soul and mind and also body. With a positive outlook on life with the light of God shining in our spirit.
